The Decree regulates the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts

On March 22, 2024, the Government issued a draft decree specifying the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts.

Compared to the current regional minimum wage stipulated in Article 3 of Decree 38/2022/NĐ-CP, the regional minimum wage in Article 3 of the draft decree has been adjusted upwards by an average of 6%. Here are the details:

  • Zone I: The monthly minimum wage is 4,960,000 VND.
  • Zone II: The monthly minimum wage is 4,410,000 VND.
  • Zone III: The monthly minimum wage is 3,860,000 VND.
  • Zone IV: The monthly minimum wage is 3,450,000 VND.

Additionally, the draft decree introduces changes to the geographical areas where the minimum wage applies, compared to Decree 38/2022/NĐ-CP:

  • Zone II is adjusted to Zone I for the following locations in Quang Ninh province: Quang Yen town, Dong Trieu town, Uong Bi city, and Mong Cai city.
  • Zone III is adjusted to Zone II for the following locations: Thai Binh city in Thai Binh province; Thanh Hoa city, Sam Son city, Nghi Son town, and Bim Son town in Thanh Hoa province; Ninh Hoa town in Khanh Hoa province; and Soc Trang city in Soc Trang province.
  • Zone IV is adjusted to Zone III for the following locations: Thai Thuy district and Tien Hai district in Thai Binh province; Trieu Son, Tho Xuan, Yen Dinh, Vinh Loc, Thieu Hoa, Ha Trung, Hau Loc, Nga Son, Hoang Hoa, Nong Cong districts in Thanh Hoa province; and Ninh Phuoc district in Ninh Thuan province.

This Decree is expected to take effect from July 1, 2024.
