May I use virtual currency as a means of payment?

Answer:
Pursuant to Clauses 10 and 11, Article 3 of Decree No. 52/2024/ND-CP, the following provisions are stipulated regarding non-cash payment instruments and unlawful means of payment:
- A non-cash payment instrument means an instrument issued by a payment service provider, a finance company authorized to issue credit cards, or an intermediary payment service provider offering e-wallet services, and used by customers to effect payment transactions. Non-cash payment instruments include: cheques, payment orders, debit orders, collection orders, collection authorization orders, bank cards (debit cards, credit cards, prepaid cards), e-wallets, and other payment instruments as prescribed by the State Bank of Vietnam.
- An unlawful means of payment means any means of payment that does not fall within the provisions set forth above.
Accordingly, virtual currency does not constitute a lawful means of payment.
⬄ Therefore, you shall not be permitted to use virtual currency as a means of payment.
