On July 8, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision 611/QD-TTg approving the National Environmental Protection Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Below are some remarkable contents:
- By 2030, the total area of the protected area system nationwide is expected to reach about 6.7 million hectares. At the same time, increase the area of nature reserves; Protect and restore important natural ecosystems and improve the quality of biodiversity.
- Environmental protection tasks set out in the Planning include:
- Minimize environmental impacts from socio-economic development activities;
- Management of household solid waste, industrial solid waste, and hazardous waste;
- Manage, improve and enhance environmental quality;
- Conservation of nature and biodiversity;
- Promote sustainable growth models.
- National park conservation orientations are as follows: Transition, transfer and establishment of a new national park system that meets the criteria according to the law; maintain forest coverage at a minimum of 42 - 43%, protect the environment, adapt to climate change, and develop ecotourism.
This Decision takes effect from July 8, 2024.
