On March 18, 2024, the Resource and Environment Communication Center under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued an invitation No. 87/GM-TTTT sent to the Business Association, manufacturing and importing enterprises; recycling and waste treatment enterprises to attend a workshop on implementing the extended responsibilities of producers and importers according to the Environmental Protection Law.
The contents include the responsibilities of enterprises in environmental protection, specifically:
- Regarding the responsibility for recycling products and packaging: producers and importers of products such as tires, lubricants, batteries, accumulators, and packaging (food, cosmetics, medicine, fertilizers, animal feed, veterinary drugs, detergents, household, agricultural, medical products, and cement) must show compliance starting from January 1, 2024; producers and importers of electrical and electronic products must comply starting from January 1, 2025; producers and importers of transportation vehicle products must comply starting from January 1, 2027.
- Regarding the responsibility for waste collection and treatment: producers and importers manufacturing single-use batteries, diapers, sanitary pads, wet wipes, chewing gum, cigarettes, some products with synthetic plastic components such as clothing, children’s toys, leather goods, bags, shoes, disposable plastics, etc., and packaging (plant protection products) must fulfill the responsibility for waste collection and treatment starting from January 1, 2022.
